Kangarilla

A previous incarnation of the Kangarilla Football Club existed between 1901 and 1962 at which point it merged with Clarendon to form the Mount Bould Football Club. Mount Bould lasted just four seasons before disbanding. This original Kangarilla contested a total of twelve senior grade premiership-deciding matches during its existence, claiming victory in seven of them.

Kangarilla (Mark Two) spent its inaugural season of 1966 competing in the Hills Central Football League’s B Grade competition before crossing to the Hills Football League Southern Zone the following year. In 1968 the club was on the move again, this time to Division Three of the Hills Football League, in which competition it claimed a flag in 1970 following a 6 goal grand final victory over Milang. Further premierships followed in 1973 at the expense of Langhorne Creek, and both 1974 and 1978 against Macclesfield making the 1970s arguably the most memorable decade in the club’s history to date.

Between 1979 and 2005 Kangarilla competed in the Southern Football League, chiefly in Division Two in which the senior grade side enjoyed premiership success on four occasions. In 2006 the club returned to the Hills Football League and won a Division Two flag at the first time of asking thanks to a 32.19 (211) to 8.4 (52) grand final mauling of Kersbrook. A second consecutive grand final appearance followed in 2007 but Torrens Valley, which had only qualified for the finals in fifth place, scored an upset victory by 4 points. The Double Blues again contested the finals in 2008 but they have failed to do so since, although they have managed to avoid the ignominy of finishing last.
