To date, the Magpies have contested three senior grade Eastern Eyre Football League grand finals. The first two of these, in 1989 and 2002, both resulted in defeats at the hands of Kimba Districts. In a classic case of "third time lucky" when the Magpies next contested a grand final in 2017 they emerged victorious against perennial power club Kimba Districts with scores of 10.11 (71) to 9.8 (62). Ports had commenced their finals campaign at the first semi final stage making their achievement all the more noteworthy. A year later, however, the Magpies experienced the reverse side of the ledger when they slumped to the wooden spoon.
