Rovers

The Double Blues qualified for their first grand final in 1949, but lost to Pioneers. The ensuing couple of seasons brought further grand final defeats at the hands of Federals and Pioneers but in 1952 the premiership was finally attained at the expense of Federals. It was an emphatic triumph, Rovers winning by 51 points, 19.14 (128) to 12.5 (77). The Double Blues’ tally remained a record for a grand final until 1972, when they eclipsed it themselves with a 20.15 (135) to 12.4 (76) grand final defeat of Federals.

Rovers’ overall tally of ten senior grade flags has been amassed sporadically with the club’s greatest successes coming in the 1970s, a decade which spawned no fewer than seven grand final appearances. In 1970 against Federals, 1973 against South Alice Springs, and 1978 at the expense of Wests the Double Blues were successful.

More recently the Double Blues went back to back, accounting for Federal in the 2017 grand final by 29 points, 14.11 (95) to 9.12 (66), before overcoming South by 19 points in the following year's premiership back to back.
