Match Report

The last match for the round takes us to the inner east of the city, to the Coopers Stadium in Norwood as the Redlegs locked horns with the Panthers. As has been the case on more than one occasion over the years, the Panthers have been able to pull one over the Redlegs on their home deck. They did that last year in Round 4, nicking a four-point win. But the 'Legs repaid the favour in Round 10, taking an eight-point win at Noarlunga. Coming into this match, Norwood were unlucky not to steal points from Sturt as they went down by 12 points while the Panthers' second half made the difference against Glenelg. Only a goal separated them at quarter-time, both sides struggling to make real scoreboard impact as Norwood scored 4.3 to the Panthers' 3.3. But the rot really set in for South in the second term, kicking 1.8 while the 'Legs scored 4.1 to head into the rooms with a 17-point lead at the half-time break. When play resumed, the home side went on the attack. Although wasting several chances to really inflict some damage on the scoreboard, they rammed through 7.6 to South's 4.1 to take a 40-point lead come three quarter-time. Three more days rest hardly helped the Panthers in the end, the Redlegs finishing off 47-point winners with a last term score of 4.3 to 3.2.

Sam Baluderstone was Norwood's best on ground, the Panthers named Nick Liddle as their standout.
