Next up we head into the inner northern suburbs for some Sunday afternoon footy, the Roosters and the Bulldogs coming together for the Northern Derby at Prospect Oval. The Bulldogs began the season on the right note at the expense of the Roosters, inflicting a 61-point hammering at Elizabeth. But the fortunes of these clubs since then couldn't be anymore different, with the underperforming Dogs sitting eighth on the ladder while the Roosters are up top. North were given a fright by the Tigers last week but held on for a 10-point win, the Dogs meanwhile copped a three-goal loss to the struggling Magpies at home.
A first term breeze did help Centrals early on, many Roosters fans probably surprised they would hold a mere five-point lead at quarter-time after scoring 3.2 to 2.3. The Dogs managed to stay within range of the Roosters up until deep into time-on of the second term, where a trio of majors saw the hosts up by 27 points at the break after scoring 7.6 to 4.2. The travelling Dogs fans could have been forgiven for thinking that they were going to get swamped, but by three quarter-time the gap was back to nine points after they outscored North 5.2 to 2.2. At one point in the final term it was just two points but unfortunately the elusive victory wasn't going to happen, the Roosters steadied in the final term to win by nine points with both teams kicking 2.1.
Callum Wilkie was voted the Roosters' best, the Bulldogs named Travis Schiller as their best on ground.
