The last match for the weekend was at the opposite end of the Adelaide metro area, the Bulldogs facing the Crows at the My Money House Oval in Elizabeth. The Bulldogs were among those that were inflicting early season misery on the Crows, from their last meeting the result was a 70-point demolition in Round 4. The Dogs loss to the Bloods last week put their finals aspirations under a cloud, coupled with a buoyant incoming Crows outfit and the eventual South victory later in the day turned that cloud much darker.
An all-out, low-scoring slog would ensue in front of the near 2,400 in attendance, the Dogs scoring 3.1 to the Crows' single behind to begin the afternoon's proceedings. At quarter-time, Centrals were ahead by three goals. The goal-kicking rot would set in from here, the Crows eventually finding the big sticks. But it was their keep-away, possession-based game that frustrated the assembled crowd and the Bulldogs themselves. The Dogs were more direct when they got the ball although they had to adopt the same tactics at times. In the second term the Dogs scored 1.3 to 1.1 to lead by 20 points at half-time. The Crows made much more of the opportunities in the third quarter, chipping some points from Centrals' lead going into the final term. They outscored the Dogs four goals to 3.3, bringing the home side's lead down to 17 points come three quarter-time. The last quarter was a comedy of errors for the Bulldogs when it came to scoring, hitting the posts several times for six behinds. But Adelaide's score of 1.1 would not allow them to take a second win for the season, the Dogs winning by 16 points on a dour afternoon of football.
Travis Schiller was named best for the Bulldogs, the Crows named Miles Poholke as their best.
