Match Report

There were two Saturday games to begin with, the first taking us over to the west side of the city and into the City Mazda Stadium in Richmond where the Bloods played the Bulldogs. Their earlier encounter back in Round 3 was a low-scoring affair, the Dogs winning by 20 points but did it the hard way. After a horrid opening term where they kicked six behinds to 2.2, the Dogs kicked seven goals to three over the remaining quarters for the victory. There were 12 goals kicked from 28 scores. While the Bloods were getting doused by the Blues over at Unley, the Doggies overturned a five-goal half-time deficit to win by almost four goals at Woodville last weekend. 

The Dogs were back to some of their old habits during the first half, inaccuracy on goals allowing the Bloods to take a quarter-time lead of two points after scoring four goals to Centrals' 3.4. The scores would be tied up going into the half-time break, the Dogs kicking 2.3 to the Bloods 2.1 with the scores at 37 points each. Westies looked the goods in the third quarter when play restarted, by three quarter-time they would be ahead by 16 points after scoring 4.1 while the Dogs still had goal-kicking issues and managed just 1.3. But much to the dismay of the Bloods' supporters, the Dogs pulled off yet another comeback effort. The home side were reduced to mere spectators as the Bulldogs kept them scoreless whilst kicking 5.1 for themselves to win by 15 points. 

Travis Schiller was named best on ground for the Dogs, the Bloods named Kaine Stevens as their best.
