Match Report

We start off the wrap with some Friday Night Lights as we head on over to the Coopers Stadium in Norwood where the Redlegs took on the Bulldogs. The Redlegs' last three victories put them ahead on the all-time ledger by as many games, which included their three-point win at Elizabeth back in Round 2. That was a game where they only narrowly escaped an embarrassing defeat, having led by almost seven goals at the final change. On the turf of The Parade, Central's last match was a 16-goal humbling at the hands of the Redlegs. A point of contention perhaps coming into this match was the split round break, the Redlegs' smashing of Sturt only five days previous to the Dogs' near two-week break after their loss to South.

It didn't seem to be an issue early on, the Dogs inaccuracy putting them eight points adrift of the 'Legs at the first change with a scoreline of four goals to 2.4. The wayward shooting of Centrals continued in the second term, but thanks to some relentless pressure play they would lead by 13 points at the half-time break after keeping Norwood to just two behinds and scoring 3.5 for themselves. The Redlegs reeled back the Dogs' lead to one straight kick by the final change, they stepped up their game in the third term but wasted some opportunities themselves. Norwood scored 5.4 to the Dogs' four goals to set a three-point deficit. But the visitors weren't going to drop this and despite missing a fair few opportunities, their 4.7 was more than enough against the home side's 2.3 to take victory by 19 points.

Travis Schiller was named Central's best on ground, the Redlegs named Matthew Nunn as their best.
