We're heading on over to City Mazda Stadium in Richmond for some Friday Night Mayhem between the Bloods and the Roosters. North's season hadn't gotten off to the best start, coming off the Round 1 bye they copped two losses. The Bloods on the other hand had two wins in the bag with one loss in between. But the last time these teams met, it was the same venue and timeslot in Round 18 when the Roosters took a 41-point win.
A closely fought first term opened proceedings, only a point separated them at quarter-time as North scored 2.2 to West's 2.1. The scoreboard would have shown more scores had there been less wastage, both teams guilty of stray passing in their attacking zones. The Roosters would increase their advantage going into the long break, adding a further 4.2 to West's shocking 1.6 to be ahead by 15 points at half-time. The Bloods were able to bring the gap back when play resumed, kicking 4.2 to the visitors' 3.1 in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to eight points at the final change. A shootout would ensue in the final term, but the difference maker would be a set shot on goal with two minutes left, one goal among the 4.3 North scored to West's 4.4. The Roosters again left Richmond with the win, a seven-point victory.
The saviour of North would be voted best afield, Matthew Wright possibly pushing a case for Crows selection. The Bloods named Chris Schmidt as their best on ground.
