In the final game for the Round 15 weekend, we head up The Parade to Coopers Stadium in Norwood as the Redlegs faced the Bulldogs in a top-two clash. These two teams have become the new big-time rivals in the league, with a long history in the last five seasons which have seen 14 matches. Among those were two one-point wins at Norwood shared between them, two semi-finals and one premiership decider. The Dogs have taken 10 of those matches including the 2010 flag, but the beginning of 2012 saw the Redlegs raid Elizabeth for a 20-point win in the most recent stoush.
The Dogs employed some mind-games early on, but it would quickly backfire on them as the Redlegs kicked an inaccurate 2.4 to 1.1 to lead by nine points at quarter-time. They would extend that gap to 27 points by half-time, kicking 4.3 to the Dogs' wasteful 1.3 in the second term. The Dogs were always outnumbered around the ball, pressured immensely at every contest. After a extended break following an injury to a spectator attempting to leave the field, the Redlegs continued to add to the gap although they probably should have done more damage on the scoreboard considering their dominance. The Bulldogs' poor kicking on goal would wouldn't help either, they could only manage 1.5 while the Redlegs added 3.3 to extend their lead to 37 points going into the final change. The Dogs managed to string a few goals together in the final term, but it was too little and too late. The visitors' 4.3 to the 'Legs 2.2 would see the home side victorious by 23 points, in front of a massive crowd of 6300+ SA footy-heads.
Norwood named Brett Zorzi as their best afield, while Centrals named Paul Marschall as their standout.
