We head across to the City Mazda Stadium in Richmond for some Friday Night Mayhem as the Bloods faced the Panthers. The Panthers have had very precious little to cheer about when coming up against the Bloods, whether it be at Noarlunga or at Richmond the red & blacks have dealt out nothing but pain for 10 of the past 11 games. South's last win came at the kickoff of season 2009 with a 10-point win at Noarlunga, the last match-up in Round 9 was an eight-goal loss at Richmond.
The Panthers got off to a more accurate start than the Bloods, scoring three goals to 2.3 to lead by just three points at quarter-time. From here the contest became an arm-wrestle, Westies taking over the lead but poor shooting in the second term kept the Panthers within a two-shot range. The Bloods kicked 2.6 to South's 1.2, at the half-time break the home side had a seven-point lead. When play resumed, the Panthers hit back to re-take the lead in the third quarter. South would kick 4.3 to West's 2.2 to be ahead by a goal at the last change, setting up a nail-biter of a final stanza. But unfortunately for whatever travelling fans made the trip from the southern suburbs, their men were once again going to walk away empty handed, the Bloods would come out one-point victors after they outscored the Panthers 2.2 to 1.1 in the final quarter.
Ryan Ferguson was voted best for the Bloods, while the Panthers named Ky Miller as their best afield.
