Match Report

The Tigers played host to the Redlegs at Gliderol Stadium at the Bay in another edition of Friday Night Mayhem by the sea. These two clubs have seen a fair bit of each other in the past five seasons, including four matches in 2010 in which one was a Qualifying Final. From the past 12 matches the Tigers have taken seven, but the last victory to the Bays was back in the early stages of 2011 when they took a 21-point win at The Parade. The Redlegs took a hat-trick of wins after Round 12 this year when they gave the Tigers an 89-point trouncing at Norwood.

The Tigers would get on the board first, but at quarter-time the scoreboard would read 3.2 to 2.2 with the Redlegs taking a one-goal lead at the siren. In what could be a cause for concern to Redlegs fans, the second quarter was loaded with errors. But the Tigers couldn't do any better in a goal-less period where both teams managed just two behinds each to keep the quarter-time deficit intact at the half-time break. The two sides finally traded goals in the second half, when play resumed the Redlegs managed to kick 2.2 to the Tigers' two goals to stretch the gap ever so slightly to eight points going into the final term. This one wasn't going to be remembered as a contest, but more of a scrap with both teams scratching and clawing for anything they could get. The visitors would maintain their three quarter-time lead of eight points in the end, both teams adding 1.2 to their tally and putting the Tigers' finals hopes in serious jeopardy.

Luke Brown was named best for the Redlegs, while Jarryd Lyons was voted best for Glenelg.
