In the final match for the weekend, the lights of Playford Alive Oval in Elizabeth came on as the northern derby kicked off between the Bulldogs and the Roosters. The end of an era at the Bulldogs came very unceremoniously at the hands of the Roosters, a 1st Semi-Final beatdown to the tune of 88 points was the final appearance of the much-hated or loved Gowans brothers. Not the kind of send-off many had envisioned. North had also tasted victory at Elizabeth for the first time in years, a 17-point Round 24 win probably the preview of what was to come. Many changes have occurred at the Elizabeth clubrooms, there's a younger list where just three players are over the age of 25, this is a club in re-build mode.
The opening term was fought evenly on the scoreboard, although the Roosters looked more dangerous as both sides scored 4.2 to begin proceedings. But then it was the Roosters show as they slotted home 7.4 to the Dogs' two goals to establish a 34-point buffer by the long break. The young Dogs outfit made a decent go of it in the third quarter, but just like the initial stanza the Roosters answered every score in kind. Both teams kicked 4.3 in the third term, the 34-point gap still there going into the final term. Centrals' final term was a dog's breakfast, the Roosters out-ran the Dogs in the end as they kicked a further 4.1 to 2.6 to take a 41-point win.
George Thring was named best for the Roosters, while the Dogs named Brayden O'Hara as their best afield.
