Match Report

In the final contest for Round 4, the lights went on once again at the Gliderol Stadium in Glenelg as the Tigers faced the Bulldogs. The Tigers haven't been able to put one past the Bulldogs for 12 matches, aside from one drawn match from the 2009 season the Doggies have not dropped points against the Bays since the 2008 Grand Final. Their last two encounters were at Glenelg, the Dogs taking 34 & 43 point wins at the Bay within the space of five weeks. But the Dogs have been out of sorts lately, the Dogs haven't started this badly since their early years in the 1960's.

The Dogs were inaccurate in front of goal early on, they began proceedings with a 3.4 to 2.1 first quarter to take a quarter-time lead of nine points. The poor shooting continued in the second quarter, the Dogs not making the most of their chances in attack as the Tigers reduced the gap to five points by the long break after kicking 3.4 to 2.6. The Dogs seemed to rectify their goal-kicking woes after the break, when play resumed for the third quarter the Dogs got back on the horse and scored 4.2 to the Tigers' 2.4, the inaccuracy bug appearing to jump camps. But the Dogs couldn't keep it up in the final stanza, the Tigers taking advantage of costly and poor decision making by Centrals. Twice in that term the Dogs forays into attack ended in easy turnovers. The home side kicked 5.3 to 1.2 in the last quarter to take a 10-point win, ending their hoodoo with the Dogs.

Jarryd Lyons was voted best on ground for Glenelg, while the Dogs voted for Trent Goodrem as their best afield.
