Off to The Parade under lights as the Redlegs faced the Double Blues at Coopers Stadium. From the last 11 games, the Redlegs have won six to Sturt's five, the last five matches going to the 'Legs including the 20-goal demolition job in Round 19 last season. So there's a few ghosts haunting the Blues at Norwood. With the Foxtel Cup B-team controversy behind them, the Redlegs got back to more important issues.
A bout of inaccuracy dogged their first term efforts, but the Double Blues were having far less luck with their own forwards early on as they were kept to a solitary behind while the 'Legs kicked 2.5 to lead by 16 points at the first change. Sturt found the big sticks in the second term, but for a mere reward of 1.1 while the Redlegs added another 2.4 to extend their lead to 25 points at the half-time break. With all their forward forays practically relying on just one man, the Double Blues continued to fall away when play resumed. Despite Sturt taking the first couple of goals of the second half, the Redlegs put the result beyond doubt after booting home 6.3 to Sturt's all-up 4.1 in the third quarter to take a 39-point advantage into the final stanza. The home side would ultimately take their sixth victory in a row against the Double Blues, they added a further 4.3 to 3.2 to run out 46-point winners, a win that sent the visitors into cellar-dweller position after the earlier victory to South Adelaide.
Brett Zorzi was voted best afield for the Redlegs, while the Blues named Michael Coad as their standout.
