In the final match for the weekend, it was time for some Sunday afternoon football as we head to Gliderol Stadium for the match between the Tigers and the Bloods. In the last few years, no matter where the Bloods were on the premiership table, they have had no joy at Glenelg. Seven losses at the bay from early 2009 to the Round 2 game last year and along with four losses at Richmond, the last 11 games have seen West win just three including the last game in Round 6 this season. But like all things, they all must end, the Bloods had a drought to break.
Their intent was on show early, inaccuracy on goal giving the locals just a small taste of what was coming as West kicked 3.7 to the Tigers' 1.3 to take a 16-point lead at quarter-time. The punishment would really get started in the second term but the inaccuracy would continue, the Bloods adding 5.5 to Glenelg's lousy single behind to extend the gap to 50 points by half-time. The Tigers were a little more spirited in the third quarter, but were still copping a belting on the scoreboard as the Bloods accuracy was on the improve. The visitors booted a further 6.2 to the Tigers' 3.2, at three quarter-time the Bloods held a 68-point lead. Westies still had some fuel left in the tank to finish the game, they would add an extra 5.2 to their tally while the Bays added 4.2 to their own as the Bloods brought the Gliderol Stadium hoodoo to a harsh and humiliating end with a 74-point hammering.
The Bloods named captain Ryan Ferguson as their best afield, while the Tigers named Jason Davenport as one of their few shinging lights.
