Match Report

We head beachside, the ABC cameras setting up shop at Gliderol Stadium in Glenelg as the Tigers hosted the Roosters. It was only a few weeks ago that these two last clashed, the traditional Queen's Birthday match at the bay saw the red & whites trounce the Tigers to the tune of 58 points to notch up a hat-trick of wins. Before this run of victories, the Roosters had taken just one win from seven games stretching back to late 2009. The Roosters came to Glenelg extremely angry, going down by less than a kick after a late free... and the Tigers were unfortunate enough to be in their path this week.

The dismantling would be gradual here today, the Roosters starting their afternoon off by kicking 4.2 to the Tigers' 2.3 to lead by 11 points at quarter-time. By the long break, that lead was almost doubled as inaccuracy figured into their game. But the signs were ominous by this point, North had added 4.5 to the Tigers' 2.1, the Roosters going into the half-time break with a 27-point lead. And then the real punishment began. When play resumed, the Roosters put the Bays to the sword. The third quarter was merely a precursor to the final humiliation as North kicked 5.1 while keeping the Tigers to just 2.3 to extend the gap to 43 points. The Roosters' final term was a warning to their rivals... they rammed home 8.3 to the Tigers' lowly 1.1 to finish the game with a 87-point victory, 11 individual players scoring goals. This may well have been strike two for embattled Glenelg coach Kris Massie, a second horrendous hiding in as many weeks.

North named Cohen Thiele as their best while the Tigers voted in Lachlan Button as their standout.
