At NAP Oval up north, the Bulldogs hosted the Redlegs in the ABC Match of the Day. After hoisting last years flag, it was down to business, but in the energy sapping heat it was hard for either side to make a really entertaining contest.
The two teams had a pretty average first quarter, the Doggies taking a lead of three points at the end of the term. Centrals did a lot better in the second quarter, kicking 6.3 to 2.1 to lead by 29 points at half time. The Dogs took their foot off the gas in the third term, but neither side made a big impact on the scoreboard with Centrals kicking two straight goals to Norwood's 1.3. The home side stitched it up in the last quarter, booting a further 4.4 to the visitors 1.2 to win by 52 points.
In fact the heat was so bad that during the reserves game, an umpire was stretchered off!
