Saturday afternoon football down at the Port to start us off, with the ABC Match of the Round between the Magpies and the Eagles. Port had their eyes on fifth spot while the Doggies were away on the bye, but the Eagles were looking for some redemption after last week's loss to North.
It was left to Tim Ginever to take charge while Jack Cahill was away ill and the Eagles swooped on them. The Eagles set the tone for the afternoon, booting away to a 28 point lead at quarter time. The first quarter was pretty even score-wise, the visitors still in front by 27. After half-time, the Eagles squashed any chance of a comeback, the third term saw them add a further 5.3 to 3.2. Passador, Watts and Powell combined for 10 big ones for their efforts as the Eagles romped home by nine goals. Like the Advertiser said... no Cahill, no Port?
