Last time they met, the resurgence of South Adelaide began with a heavy defeat of the Bulldogs.
Things were going to be different this time, as South were kept scoreless for all of the first quarter. However, the wind turned a lot of Central's shots on goal into behinds. The Dogs establised a 34 point lead at quarter time. South finally got onto the scoreboard in the second quarter, but the Dogs found more of the big sticks. Three shots for three goals without a miss to South's 1.3 saw the Dogs up by 43 points at half time. After the long break, four more perfect shots to the home side's 2.2 saw the Dogs lead by 53 points. South saved the best for last, bad timing for a comeback though. They cut the visitors winning margin in half, Central's winning by 27 points.
