Finally, the day a lot of the Centrals faithful had waited for. For the first time, Saturday night SANFL football came to the northern suburbs as the Bulldogs fronted up against the Double Blues at the newly named Hamra Homes Oval.
Despite the fact the Power were playing at the same time, people flocked to Elizabeth to watch as the Doggies took control from the first bounce to be 29 points up at quarter-time. The Blues had few answers to the Dogs attack, only managing 2.2 to Centrals' 4.3 to be down by seven goals at half-time. The third quarter wasn't plentiful with goals, but the Blues didn't get any closer to the home side who were still up by 44 points at the third term siren. The Bulldogs finished in fine form, a further five goals to Sturt's three saw them home by 56 points.
Danny Schell put away five goals, sharing the best on ground honours with Luke McCabe while Damian Squire was Sturt's best.
