All the way down at Noarlunga Oval, the Roosters were out to make it two from two at the Panthers expense. This was going to turn out to be the Match of the Round.
The first term was almost a shootout, the Panthers taking the two-point lead at quarter-time, 6.2 to 5.6. North's inaccuracy at goal cost them a chance at the lead in the second term, 10 scoring shots only brang four goals, but still kept in touch with the Panthers who still lead by three points at half time. After the long break, the home side's hold on the lead was snatched by a now focused Roosters outfit, who punished every Panther mistake and kicked 9.5 to 4.3 to lead by 29 points at three-quarter time. South's men put a strangle-hold on the Rooster's scoring opportunities in the final term, but 4.3 wasn't enough. The visitors added enough to their score to win by three goals.
The standouts on the pitch were Chris Ladhams for North and Michael Handby for South who were named best.
