Adelaide Oval was the stage of the first of two double-header rounds for 2006, starting off with the early match of the Bulldogs and the Tigers. In the corresponding clash last year, the Bulldogs were taken by surprise at the Bay.
Again, the reigning premiers found themselves under siege in the early going, the Tigers getting out to a 20 point lead at quarter-time. The miserly defence of Glenelg putting the plug on the Dogs' offence throughout the game, which continued in the second term as the lead stretched out to seven goals. The punishment continued after the long break, Centrals failed to find their goal often enough to trouble the Tigers, who romped out to a 94 point lead by three quarter-time with a 9.4 to 1.1 third term. The Tigers were just too damn good, a 95 point win for the Bays leaving Centrals fans stunned and disgusted.
Aaron Rogers booted five, with Adam Fisher named best for Glenelg, while Matthew Slade was one of Centrals' few shining lights.
