The ABC Match of the Round was at Alberton Oval, the Magpies facing the Tigers in front of a nice sized crowd. The entire first half was very even, both sides unable to get out to a decent sized lead.
Glenelg were the ones in front at quarter time though, but only by a single point. Both sides were locked away at 7.7 a piece at the end of the first half, but when the teams came back to the field the Magpies true fury would be unleashed. Port went on a third term sprint with their 11.4 to Glenelg's 1.1 to put their lead out to 63 points. Clive Waterhouse was in his element this day, three of his eight goals came in this quarter. The final quarter was very low in scoring, but the Magpies had done too much damage for the Tigers to repair. Port ran away with the premiership points with their nine-goal victory.
Waterhouse was named best for his powerful efforts in goal, while Tiger acting captain Adam Fisher, along with Mark Mickan was left to ponder what went wrong.
