Down at the Noarlunga Oval, the Panthers looked like they were going to have their hands full when the Bulldogs came to play. How WRONG they were.
The Panthers got off to a good start, taking a two-goal lead at quarter-time, 3.1 to 1.1. But in the second term, the Panthers would really punish the Bulldogs every mistake, of which there was plenty of. South would kick 7.2 to Central's 2.3 to lead by 41 points at the long break. The Bulldogs were able to outscore the home side, but missed too many opportunities to be any threat to the Panthers' grip on the game. They kicked 4.5 to South's 2.3, the lead cut to 27 points. But the efforts of Power rookie Alipate Carlile in keeping Bulldog forward Daniel Schell relatively quiet would prove pivotal in South's eventual victory, as well as the resumption of the Panther's goal onslaught. They kicked 8.1 to Central's 3.2 in the final term to win by 56 points.
Craig Parry justified his first time State side selection by getting best afield honours for South, Matt Slade was named best for Central.
