In the last match for Saturday arvo, the Bulldogs were looking to keep their 21 year long record at Unley Oval intact when they faced lowly ranked Sturt.
The Dogs got off to a good start early, leading by three goals at quarter time. But that work went to waste in the following term, in an absolute goal-fest and reversal of fortunes, the Blues pounded the Dogs with their 10.5 to 4.1 second quarter to be in front by 22 points at half-time. When play resumed, in another fortune reversal the visitors kept the Blues to two behinds while they kicked 5.6 to lead by 12 points at three-quarter time. In the final term the Doggies were able to hold off the home side despite the wind being in the Blues favour to win by 14 points, the sealing goal kicked by one half of Central's new twin brother tag-team in the Westhoffs.
Matthew Slade continues to set the standard for Centrals, he got best on ground honours alongside Sturt's Jade Sheedy.
