We are off to the northern suburbs, the ABC cameras headed to the Hamra Homes Oval for the clash between the Bulldogs and the Magpies. In the last clash, the black and whites punted the Dogs off Alberton, sounding a huge warning to the competition that the Pies were back.
The Dogs however, weren't going to be outdone by this lot on their home patch and at quarter time were up by a goal, 4.4 to 3.4. Centrals looked a lot more composed this time around, inaccurate shooting by the Pies cost them bad while the Dogs kicked away to a 15 point lead going into the long break. The Pies made a big mistake trying to blanket the Dogs' talls, allowing the smaller players like Matt Slade to slip through the net. When play resumed, a brawl broke out between several players near the fence, but no reports were made. The Dogs again widened the gap in the third term, at three-quarter time they led by five goals after kicking 5.4 to 3.1. The Dogs maintained that lead for the rest of the match, not allowing the visitors to get within cooee of their lead. Centrals ran out winners by 34 points.
Slade was named best for Central, Daniel Elstone was best for Port.
