The Eagles celebrated one half of their merged club heritage by moving a match to Thebarton Oval, as well as breaking out the old style West Torrens jumper for their match against Glenelg.
The Tigers threatened to leave the home side in their wake early, after kicking 4.2 and keeping the Eagles to just three behinds. But that wasn't going to happen, as the Eagles snatched the lead in fantastic fashion, booting 7.3 to Glenelg's 2.2 to lead by eight points at half-time. It became an all out struggle from here, after the break the Eagles kept a short leash on the Tigers. In the third quarter the Eagles kicked ahead to a 12 point lead, after adding 4.1 to the Tigers' 3.3. It was up to Mark Passador to inspire his team-mates, which he did and he finished his day with six goals. Despite the Tigers final term tenacity, the Eagles got across the line by two goals.
Tim Inkster was named best for the Eagles while Ben Moore was best afield for Glenelg.
