At Prospect Oval, the Roosters came up against the Panthers, who have been on a goalkicking rampage as of late.
The Roosters exploded to the lead first, kicking 7.1 to the Panthers' 3.3 to lead by 22 points at quarter-time. But the visitors weren't going to take this lying down and booted 9.5 to North's two lousy behinds, taking a 35 point lead in a stunning turnaround to close the first half. When the teams returned to the field for the third quarter, the lead changed hands again! The door was left open however, despite the Roosters keeping the Panthers to just one goal for the third term, North's inaccuracy at goal saw them up by only nine points. The scene appeared set for an enthralling final term, but South fans were going to be mighty disappointed as their team just surrendered the match completely. They only managed three behinds in the final term, the home side on the other hand just took complete control and booted 6.7 to win by eight goals.
Heath Younie was named best for the Roosters, as was Stephen Kenna for South.
