We head to Alberton Oval, where the Magpies hosted the Double Blues. The day was going to be among many from Season 2006 that the Sturt Football Club would suffer nothing short of pain and humiliation.
The Magpies began by setting up a 30 point lead at quarter-time, kicking 6.2 to Sturt's mere 1.2. The Blues couldn't even kick a goal in the second quarter, managing a solitary behind as the home side had another six goal haul coming up. At the long break, the Pies were up by 70 points. The Clive Waterhouse & Jeremy Clayton show wasn't over, although it did go on hiatus for the third quarter where not much scoring went on. Both sides sunk 2.3 each, so the Port Adelaide lead didn't change from what it was at half-time. The Magpies finished the job in the final quarter, although they could have been more accurate, they booted 7.5 to Sturt's 2.3.
The Magpies really lifted their percentage with their 102 point win, Waterhouse and J. Clayton kicking 13 goals in combination, plus the latter collecting best on ground votes for the 'Pies. Sean O'Keefe was Sturt's hardest worker and was named best afield.
