In the final match to close off Round 21, the lights went on for the third time up north at the Ponderosa as the Bulldogs took on the Tigers.
The Dogs didn't settle too quickly, giving away a free kick and goal before a ball was bounced. But they were the ones leading at quarter time by 10 points, 5.4 to Glenelg's four goals. Centrals should probably have led by more at half time had they not butchered some shots on goal. In the second term, they kicked 2.4 but Glenelg didn't fare much better with their 2.1. Centrals by 13 points at the long break. The Bulldogs' first half shenanigans would be quickly forgotten in the second half where they appeared stronger and smarter. The home side kicked 5.2 to Glenelg's 3.3 in the third term, but there was more to come in the final stanza. Centrals booted home 6.2 to the visitors' two goals in the final quarter, to record a 50 point win and a takeover of third spot.
Paul Scoullar was the spark for Central's victory and took best on ground votes, while Justin McConnell was named best for the Tigers. Glenelg's loss, plus Port's victory earlier that day saw the Tigers drop to fifth position... ring the alarm bells!
