Down the southern coast , the Panthers took a home match to their country zone to Encounter Bay Oval where they hosted the 2006 premiers, the Eagles.
The first quarter saw an evenly fought contest, with the Eagles taking a quarter time lead of two points. Both sides managed five goals each here, but after that, the Panthers would find themselves under siege by the SANFL flag bearers. A ten goal second term by the Eagles pretty much sealed the game as South Adelaide struggled to find the goals for the rest of the game. At half time, the margin was 50 points. The pain would not stop there. Ken Farmer Medallist Mark Passador made his presence felt all day, another five goals in the third quarter saw the lead blow out to 69 points. In the final quarter, inaccurate shots on goal was the Eagles only problem. They kicked 4.7 to South's 3.2 as the Eagles handed the Panthers an 86 point hiding.
In the absence of Justin Cicolella, captain Mark McKenzie took his place and was named the Eagles best player. South's real shining light was Ben Warren.
