In the final match of the round, Unley Oval played host to the Double Blues match against the Tigers. A healthy crowd of over 3,600 turned up for this match, a good number of them footy-starved Glenelg supporters who had the bye last week.
They would have been pleased with what went on early as the Tigers got to a 14 point lead at quarter time, kicking 6.2 to four straight Blues goals. That lead was overturned in the second quarter, but because of poor shooting on goal the Blues led by just four points at half time, Sturt 8.8 to Glenelg's 8.4. The early match efforts of the Tigers charges slowly came undone by a more hungry Blues mob after the long break, the Blues bagging four goals without a miss to the visitors' 2.1 to lead by 15 points at three quarter time. The Tigers were overwhelmed in the final term, Sturt finishing the job with another five perfect scoring shots to Glenelg's 3.1 for a 26 point win.
Brant Chambers had another big afternoon at goal with his six flawless shots on goal, but it was Ryan Darling who bagged best on ground honours for the Blues. John Hinge was pushing hard for Crows selection, he was named best for the Tigers.
