Match Report

The last time these two met in a grand final, it was a year in football no-one would forget in South Australia. This rivalry was rekindled on Saturday afternoon as the Magpies and the Tigers locked horns at Alberton Oval in the ABC Match of the Round.

Glenelg finally found some devastating form last weekend against West, and again started very well with a 4.1 to 1.4 scoreline at quarter-time. But the on and off again Magpies fought back and found themselves level with the visitors at half-time after booting 4.4 to the Tigers' 2.1. The third term was more tightly contested on the scoreboard, but the Magpies were the ones ahead by two points at three-quarter time. But at the end of the game, there would only be disappointment... for BOTH sides. The Magpies were leading by eight points going into time on, but after a couple of behinds and then a last gasp goal to Glenelg, you would have been able to hear a pin drop as the scores would read 80 points a piece at the final siren.

Magpie Daniel Elstone's 11 tackles was enough to bag best afield votes, while Glenelg named Richard Douglas as their best.
