Down at the Bay, the resurgent and roaring Tigers mob prepared for the arrival of a pack of ravenous Bulldogs. Glenelg needed a win to pop into the top five, but those aspirations would take a denting early on in the piece.
The Dogs bagged 7.1 to 1.4 to be up by 33 points at quarter-time, Tom Logan and Trevor Cranston spraying two set pieces after 25-metre penalties really hurt the home side. However the Tigers managed to keep the Dogs to 2.1 in the second term, while kicking 4.4 for themselves to bring the gap back to 18 points going into the long break. When the game resumed for the third quarter, the Dogs got back on track to kick 4.3 to Glenelg's mere 1.1. At the three-quarter time siren the visitors were back out to a 38 point lead. The Tigers made a last ditch effort to steal the game, at one point getting within a couple of kicks. But Central's solitary score in the final term -- a goal from Heath Lawry -- would be enough to see the Dogs home. The Dogs won by 16 points.
Ian Callinan was voted best for Centrals, while the Tigers voted in Ben Kane as their best on ground.
