In the final match of the round, the Bulldogs headed south to Hickinbotham Oval to face the on-and-off again Panthers. After last week's stuff up at Unley, the Dogs' intensity was put under questioning.
The first half of this game justified this, starting off with the Panthers being up by a goal at quarter-time. The margin was extended to 10 points in the second quarter, the Bulldogs' inaccuracy bug in the first term switched to Souths, keeping the door open for the visitors. The second half was much more productive for the Doggies, forcing that door wide open as they kicked 6.1 to 2.3 to take a lead of 12 points going into the final quarter. The improved attitudes of the Centrals charges would see them home, the stream of behinds continued for the Panthers and it would cost them dearly. The Dogs kicked 4.2 to 2.5, the visitors getting away with the premiership points with a 21 point victory.
Captain Paul Thomas was named best afield for Centrals, while Matthew Smith was voted South's best.
