We head over to the Alberton Oval for Saturday footy, both of these teams had nothing more to play for but pride when the Magpies hosted the Bloods. This was the last match that Wayne Weidemann would have as coach of West and Port weren't going to let that stand in the way of one last blast.
So the visitors surged to a four-goal lead with a 5.2 to 1.2 first term. That was followed by a 7.5 second term blitz whilst restricting the Bloods to just 1.1 to take out a 64 point lead at the long break. The Bloods had a much better period in the third quarter, they booted 7.3 while the Magpies managed just 3.3, bringing the gap back to 40 points by the final change. But one good quarter of football wasn't going to cut it, the Bloods once again shut down after a short burst of brilliance. The Magpies landed home a further 6.2 to West's 2.5, seeing the visitors home by 62 points.
Mark Dolling was named best for the 'Pies, while West voted in Damian Cupido as their best. Weidemann launched one final tirade on his now former charges, which will probably echo long into pre-season 2008. Port finished sixth, West are wooden spooners for '07.
