In the final game for the round, with the ABC deciding to televise a Sunday game, they headed to the Alberton Oval for the match between the Magpies and the Eagles. This match was the one that would decide the team to face Norwood in the Elimination Final next week, the Eagles were the team coming off a win while the 'Pies copped a loss last weekend.
But the old Port attitude came through hard and fast, as the Maggies found themselves in front by 14 points at quarter-time after a 4.4 to 2.2 first term. They followed that effort up by bagging a further 5.3 to the Eagles' poor 1.2 to lead by 39 points at the long break. There was little resistance put up by the Eagles from here, not only did the Magpies keep up their scoring run but also put the choke-hold on the Eagle forwards in the third quarter. Port scored 4.3 to the visitors' 1.2 to put the margin out to 58 points at the final change. The Magpies finals pass was stamped already, the Eagles could do little more except reduce the final margin a little, Port taking out a 49 point win after a 3.3 to 4.6 final quarter.
The Magpies named vice-captain Brad Murray as their best afield, while the Eagles voted Jared Petrenko as their best contributor.
