On Sunday at the Challenge Recruitment Oval in Glenelg, the Tigers hosted the Redlegs in front of nearly 4000 fans. After the Blues loss on Saturday, the Tigers just needed to win to take out the minor premiership. The Redlegs, to most Tigers supporters, should have been a pushover after their loss to the Eagles last week.
But to their surprise, the Redlegs were leading by four points after a 3.0 to 2.2 first quarter. The Tigers overturned that in the second quarter, but inaccuracy on goal only allowed them to lead by a point after kicking 3.3 to the visitors' 2.4 before the half time break. The poor kicking on goal continued when play resumed for the second half, allowing Norwood to take the lead again by three quarter-time after they kicked 3.2 to Glenelg's 1.6. At the final change the margin was seven points in favour of the 'Legs. But again, the Redlegs' had a fade out at the wrong time. They could only manage 1.1, while the Tigers found the big sticks more often and booted 5.3 to take out the minor premiership with a 19 point win.
Ty Allen was named Glenelg's best on ground, while the Redlegs voted in James Gallagher as their best man.
