We head up to the Hamra Homes Oval in the only Saturday fixture for the weekend, as the floodlights and almost 4,700 people fired up for the contest between the Bulldogs and the Double Blues. In the last meeting between these two sides, the Dogs fell short by 13 points at Unley in Round 17.
The Dogs had improved somewhat after their debacle against the Roosters since then, but it didn't show early on in the piece as they scored just 1.3 while the Blues bagged four goals without a miss to lead by 15 points at quarter time. But then the Dogs went on a scoring spree, landing home 7.1 to Sturt's two goals to lead by 16 points at the long break of which three of those goals came in the time-on period. The third quarter saw the Dogs extend that margin slightly, out to 19 points by the final change after kicking three goals without a miss while the Blues scored 2.3. The Blues could have nicked it in the final term, coming within a kick of the lead 18 minutes in, but the Dogs wouldn't have it and neither would Power-listed Ryan Williams. His two goals in the final minutes would shut out the Blues, as the Dogs went on to win by 16 points.
Centrals skipper Paul Thomas was voted best afield as was Daniel Wicks for Sturt.
