Match Report

It's off to the Alberton Oval for the match between the Magpies and the Tigers. A bye to the Double Blues last week is the only reason the Tigers are still on equal points for top spot, their loss to the Eagles last weekend costing them outright first place. The Magpies had fifth spot after their victory against North last weekend, a loss here would cost them that position.

Things started off pretty equally, the teams separated by just two points at quarter time in Glenelg's favour, where both sides managed just one goal a piece. But then the Tiger machine slowly but surely started to crank. They added 3.2 to the home side's 1.2 to lead by 14 points at the half-time break. The Tigers' last win at the Magpie nest was 15 years ago and they were on a mission to snap that streak. When play resumed, the Tiger machine was still cranking up, but they still added a further 3.3 while restricting the Magpies to just two behinds in the third quarter to stretch the margin to 33 points. The final quarter is where the machine was fully charged, Glenelg booting through 6.4 to Port's 3.2. The Tigers won by 53 points and the Magpies were sent down to sixth position.

Ty Allen was voted best afield for the Tigers, the Magpies voting in Mark Dolling as their best.
