Starting off with a short jaunt down The Parade to Coopers Stadium, Friday night footy drew in just over 3,500 when the Redlegs faced the Eagles. Already the Eagles have seen the worst start to a season since the merger year of 1991, but a beautiful start gave their fans something to cheer about this night.
Mark Passador fired up early on his awaited return to SANFL football, kicking the first two goals in the first few minutes. They kicked 8.2 all-up in the first term to Norwood's 3.2 to be up by 30 points at quarter-time. The Redlegs however, remained a pest and drew the margin back to 23 points by the long break. The gap was still at 23 points at three-quarter time, as both teams kicked 5.4 in the third term. But the Eagles more accurate kicking in the last quarter was the difference maker, Norwood spraying several shots on goal and too much possession football allowing the visitors to run away with the game. The Eagles kicked 5.2 to 2.8 to secure their first victory for 2008 by 35 points.
Luke Powell was named best for the Eagles, while David Trotter was voted best on ground for Norwood.
