We look at the match at the sodden and muddy Prospect Oval between the Roosters and the Bulldogs. Last weekend the Bulldogs pulled off what was the upset of the season when they knocked off the Tigers at the Dog-pound, while the Roosters had a loss away to the Panthers. The last encounter was the Grand Final rematch which the Dogs won.
The Roosters had some big time motivation for this match and they started with a five to four goal first quarter and then followed that up with a 4.1 to 2.1 second term to post an 18 point lead at the long break. The Bulldogs seemed to always be second to the ball and it showed after half-time as they were kept goalless for the remainder of the match. The Roosters stretched the gap to seven goals by three quarter-time, kicking 4.4 to the Bulldogs lousy four behinds. The final quarter was rather dull for both groups of supporters, the Roosters bagging the only goal of the final quarter, one major score out of seven for the home side compared to another poor four behinds to Central which saw North take out a 50 point victory.
2007 Magarey Medallist James Allan took best on ground honours for North, while Ian Callinan was named best for Central.
