At the House Brothers Oval, the Double Blues faced the Roosters. Sturt had it all over the North mob in 2008, a 10 goal loss at Menzies Crescent followed by a defeat of almost 18 goals at Unley.
The Roosters were ready to get some payback and started proceedings in the average conditions with a 3.1 to 1.1 first quarter. The Roosters followed that up in the second term by keeping the Blues scoreless while bagging a further three goals to lead by 30 points at the half-time break. The Blues finally switched on for the second half, reeling the Roosters back to within two kicks of the lead after scoring 4.3 to 1.1 in the third quarter. At the final change, the visitors were ahead by 10 points. A scrappy final term ensued, with the Double Blues faithful holding out hope for victory after Brant Chambers levelled the scores at 22 minutes. But behinds to the Roosters after this made the difference as they held off the Blues long enough for a three point victory.
Clint Alleway was the difference maker in the end and was voted best afield for North, while Sturt named Craig Evans as their best on ground.
