In the final match for Round 15, the Magpies hosted the Panthers at Alberton Oval. In the last nine matches preceeding this encounter, the Magpies have won five. But the Panthers have been the mob that have taken out some memorable victories for their faithful, none more memorable than the match that eliminated Port from the 2006 finals series.
The Magpies started off pretty well, a 5.2 to 1.2 first quarter seeing Port up by 24 points at the first change. But the Panthers have had a funny habit of sneaking up on an unaware opposition, bringing the gap back to one goal in a goal-laden second term, 7.2 to Port's 4.2. The Maggies weren't about to let this one slip though, when play resumed they went right back to where they left off in the first term, kicking 5.1 to South's 2.2 to set the margin at 23 points going into the final change. The Panthers had nothing left in the tank to finish off with, the black & whites running off with it in the end as they kicked 6.1 to a solitary behind to take a 59 point win and their third in a row.
Brad Murray racked up 25 kicks and was named best for the Magpies, while South voted in Dylan Williams as their best afield.
