We head on down south to the Hickinbotham Oval at Noarlunga where the cats of the league faced off... the Panthers and the Tigers. There have been some mixed results between these two, from the last 10 matches its been mostly Tiger victories -- six to four -- with the last being in Round 14 last year.
South took the early ascendancy as the Tigers struggled to find the big sticks, kicking 5.2 to 2.5 to lead by 15 points at quarter-time. But their lead didn't last long, as the Tigers smashed home nine unanswered goals in the second term to the Panthers single behind to take a 40-point lead at the half-time break. The South faithful, which have been turning out in larger numbers as of late, couldn't be blamed for losing faith after what happened next. When play resumed in the third quarter, the Tigers continued to pound the Panthers into the turf, a further 6.2 to South's 2.2 would see the margin stretch out to 64 points at the final change. Despite this, the final quarter would be of evident concern to Glenelg coach Mark Mickan, as the Panthers outscored the visitors 4.3 to 1.4 to bring the final gap back to 47 points.
Ruory Kirkby was voted best afield for the Tigers, while South named Nick Murphy as their standout.
