Match Report

In the final match of Round 12, the Queen's Birthday holiday Monday would see the Tigers take on the Roosters at Gliderol Stadium in Glenelg. The Tigers have had it all over North for the last eight games, the last match was a great escape as Glenelg took a three-point win at Prospect in Round 5.

The Roosters would find themselves behind the eight ball early on in the piece, down by three goals at quarter-time after Glenelg bagged 4.2 to 1.2. But the Roosters would then reel the Tigers back to a four-point deficit at the long break. After an incident that left one Tiger bloodied and a report within the Rooster ranks, the two sides ended the first half with a wrestling match after the half-time siren. The Roosters continued to pester the Tigers in the third quarter, the visitors were unlucky not to be in the lead as they kicked 3.5 to 3.3 to reduce the gap to just two points at the final change. But even if the Roosters had kicked truly a little more then, it would count for nothing in the final quarter as the Tigers rammed the Roosters into the dirt as they belted home 9.1 to a lousy 1.4. The Tigers romped home 47-point winners.

That red-faced figure prior to half-time would end up being voted Glenelg's best, Byron Murphy taking the honours while North named Djaran Whyman as their standout.
