Sunday afternoon saw the Bayside encounter between the Tigers and the Redlegs at Gliderol Stadium. You have to go all the way back to Round 7 for the last clash between these clubs, the Redlegs humiliated the Tigers at The Parade by 58 points which brought to an end a seven-match winning streak.
The Tiger faithful at this point, would have no idea that this match could be their ticket to top spot but they turned up in force as the two teams fought out an even first term to kick 2.1 a piece. The Redlegs turned it on in the second quarter though, keeping the Tigers to three behinds whilst kicking four goals without a miss to take a 21-point lead at the half-time break. When play resumed, the Tigers would hit back somewhat, their inaccuracy preventing them from snatching the lead at the Redlegs held them at bay to kick 4.1 to the home side's 6.4. At the final change the visitors lead was reduced to a single goal. The Tigers weren't going to disappoint their gathered faithful though and they blasted their way to victory with a 7.6 to 1.3 final term to take a six-goal win and take over first place on the league ladder.
Daniel Kirk was named best afield for Glenelg, while Nick Lower was voted best on ground for the 'Legs.
