On Sunday, in the first of the final two matches for the round, we head off first to Coopers Stadium at Norwood where the Redlegs geared up for a Blood feud. In their last two meet-ups in Season 2010, both sides pleased their home faithful with the Bloods taking out the Round 4 contest and Norwood winning their Round 14 match. The Redlegs finals fate was pretty much decided, but the Bloods still had a small chance of qualifying for an elimination final spot.
They would struggle to register a goal in the early goings, the Redlegs kicked four behinds while the Bloods couldn't find any of the sticks in the first term. The goal drought broke in the second quarter, the 'Legs bagging 5.2 to the Bloods' 1.3. That effort would prove to be an early game-breaker as the Redlegs would continue to dominate, West's clumsy handling of the ball would prove to be a season killer. The Bloods inaccuracy in the third quarter would also be a telling factor, they kicked 1.6 while Norwood added 2.1. At the final change the Redlegs held a 28-point lead. In these conditions it might as well have been double that figure. The inaccuracy bug would then drift over to the home side, but it would hardly matter at this point. Westies didn't get a single score in the last term, Norwood spraying through 1.8 to take a 42-point win. Norwood named
Nick Lower as their best afield, while the Bloods voted in David Piasente as their standout. See you next year Westies.
