We head off to City Mazda Stadium for some Friday night football when the Bloods hosted the Tigers. Westies haven't had the best of luck against the Tigers as of late, not a cracker from the last nine outings and worse still the Bays haven't lost at Richmond for seven games in a row.
The first quarter was rather boring for over 20 minutes with no goals kicked until the Tigers broke through to kick an inaccurate 2.6 to the Bloods' measly three behinds. The Bloods found the big sticks in the second term though, outscoring the Tigers 4.2 to 3.1. At the half-time break, the gap was back to eight points with the Tigers still in front, it would have been 20 points had they not given away a couple of free kicks in the wrong spots! Westies would then assert their home-ground authority in the second half as they snatched the lead in the third quarter after bagging four goals without a miss, Glenelg kicking 1.3 to set a deficit of seven points at the final change. The final term was all red & black, Glenelg's early match intensity all but gone as the Bloods booted home 6.2 to 1.2 to take a 37-point victory and retain top spot.
Steven Morris was judged best afield for West, while the Tigers named discarded Power player Chad Cornes as their standout.
